Seems like winter just doesn’t want to let go so we’re fighting back with one of our favorite spring weddings. When we first met with Sam and Anna, we knew we were going to have an awesome and unique day and we were so excited to be a part of bringing their french soiree together.
Sam and Anna got married in the MORNING (!!!) far above the golden valley in the heart of their alma mater, old KU!
Their brunch reception was held at the beautiful Williams House. The lush gardens were in bloom and strains of Edith Piaf and Key West Jazz sang out over the comfortable surroundings.
The lovely brunch meal was created by the ever fabulous Evan Williams Catering. It featured fine french pastries, egg dishes, fruits and cheeses and was accompanied by impeccable service.
Bride and Groom’s cocktail of the day was Kir Royale and Champagne and guests helped themselves to a variety of refreshing beverages
Red Door’s answer to the challenge of escort card vs. wind is an actual seating chart created by our favorite stationer Allie Statler of Announce This! Once guests arrived at their table, they found their seats individually designated with handwritten place cards on doilies. Big thumbs up for this functional design, beauty with purpose.
Guests were seated at long banquet tables under a floating canopy of colorful paper lanterns. The tables were covered with taupe linens and accented with red satin runners and turquoise satin napkins.
The flowers for the day were as red red as we could get them. Roses, gladiolus, tulips, ranunculus, and to-die-for red peonies were all highlighted in our vintage tin, milk glass, apothecary bottle and mason jar collections. We brought in a few eccentric pops of bright yellow billy balls to ratchet up the unexpected and dear old “Bone-saw”, one of the awesome sculptures on the garden grounds, enjoyed his bouquet for the day too!
We’ve set up lawn games at myriad events, but this was the first time that guests really took advantage of the entertainment. The perfect weather was so inviting and had everyone participating and having a great time!
Sam and Anna don’t really care for cake. No problem! For a sweet finish to their celebration Red Door brought in 13 different home-made pies from Kansas original, MarCon Pies, and it was awesome.
The magnificent photography for this wedding was shot by Josh and Jenny of Solar Photographers who we can never say enough great things about and who we will always look forward to working with.
There were so many special elements to this excellent celebration and we had such a great time being a part of this day. We want to thank Sam and Anna for having us along for the ride. Félicitations pour votre mariage. Nous vous souhaitons tout le bonheur du monde!
